My New Year’s Wish For You

I hope you will have a wonderful year, that you'll dream dangerously and outrageously, that you'll make something that didn't exist before you made it, that you will be loved and that you will be liked, and that you will have people to love and to like in return. And, most importantly (because I think there should be more kindness and more wisdom in the world right now), that you will, when you need to be, be wise, and that you will always be kind.
Neil Gaiman
The new year is always a chance to start over. A fresh beginning - which could happen at any time of the year, but it feels more significant as the calendar ages. This is a blank new page - literally, because you need to buy a new diary for the year ahead. It’s a time where we are more likely to evaluate our lives, the year that past, look at the highs and the lows, think of all the things we wanted to do, but didn’t, our regrets, our accomplishments, the happiest day in the year that passed.
I found this beautiful piece written by Neil Gaiman, and the message greatly moved me. Because it’s universal - it transcends to all people of all walks of life. It is a message of hope, of wishing for an incredible life, for people to think and be conscientious, and most importantly, encouraging all to be kind. I’m sure many of you share my sentiment that sometimes someone else can arrange your thoughts in a more eloquent way, and with better words - that is how this passage feels to me.
I still wish to bestow my wish on all of you, even though it may not have the same flow as the one above.
I hope this year is a year of exciting adventures for you - new places, faces, embraces. That you will do things you have wanted to do your whole life, but were too scared to do. I hope there will be lots of crazy and delicious new food experiences that change your life, and that there will be equally many vibrant new drinks that you can share with loved ones. May you live this year with more confidence, more ambition, more passion for life. I hope that the dreams you dream are sweet, and come true. That the burdens become a less significant part of your life, and that you can be consumed with the happiness and knowledge that you are never alone. I hope that you will be richly blessed this year, and that you will fall in love with yourself and your life, and not look back on this year with a single regret.
